What this is
email-mcp is free, open source software (MIT licensed) published as the npm
package @marlinjai/email-mcp and on
GitHub. It is an MCP (Model
Context Protocol) server that you install and run yourself, giving an AI assistant
tool access to email accounts you connect to it.
License
The software is provided under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and redistribute it, with attribution, and without warranty, as set out in the LICENSE file in the repository.
No warranty
Provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing what the tool does before connecting a real account, and for any action an AI assistant takes through it, including sending, deleting, or organizing email on your behalf. A permanent-delete action, if you choose the Full Gmail scope or authorize an equivalent permission elsewhere, cannot be undone by this software.
Third-party services
Connecting Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, or any other IMAP provider through email-mcp is subject to that provider's own terms of service. email-mcp is an independent, unofficial client and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, Microsoft, or Apple.
Your data
See the privacy policy for exactly what email-mcp stores and transmits. In short: it runs locally, stores encrypted credentials on your own machine, and has no server of its own that your email passes through.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the project changes; the current version always lives at this page and in the repository.
